The environment of the shower allows chlorine to be in either a gas or liquid state. The high temperature of the shower essentially converts free-chlorine from a liquid to a gas, which then becomes vapor and consequently inhaled. Sprite's innovative shower filter converts free-chlorine into a benign, water-soluble chloride, which is a form of salt that is not toxic. This is a chemical reaction called reduction-oxidation, also known as redox. On a molecular level, the reaction changes the free-chlorine so that it is too large to evaporate or be absorbed by the skin so it is washed away.

Sprite uses two types of filtration media called Chlorgon and KDF, that create this redox reaction, thus "removing" free-chlorines from the shower water. Chlorgon not only changes free-chlorines, it also renders other highly toxic combined chlorines benign, for example sodium hypochlorite the common liquid swimming pool chlorine. KDF is made of a high-purity copper-zinc formula that is 100 percent recyclable and does not contain chemical additives. This makes this filtration media the #1 choice of hospitals, restaurants, municipal water treatment facilities, and homes to safely reduce or help remove free chlorine, iron oxides and hydrogen sulfide.

Sprite's patented filtration media, Chlorgon with KDF, removes chlorine, dirt and sediment, scale, iron oxide, odors. The Slim-Line Filter Cartridge that will last approximately 6 Months or 15,000 gallons, whichever comes first. The filter media is pH balanced so it will not affect the ph of your water. In addition, the cartridge can be recycled when used up by disposing of the filter media into a flower/garden bed and then place the plastic container in your recycle bin.
