Drip Emitters Information

Drip Emitters

Both the Pro series and the Plus series drip emitters are pressure compensating. They are simply inserted into a hole in the supply tubing. The Plus series is available in three different flow rates - 1/2, 1, and 2 gph. The Pro series is available in two - 1 and 2 gph. Both will maintain their discharge rate from 10 to 40 psi.

The Plus series is directional - that means the inlet
side is colored and the outlet side is black colored.

The flag series is also available in three flow rates (1, 2, and 4 gph) but is not pressure compensating. They are very easy to clean - just twist and pull.

A hole-punch is used to make a hole in the tubing. The emitter is then inserted into the hole. Should the hole ever need to be sealed off, a 'goof' plug is simply inserted for a leak proof seal.

If you are concerned about ants or insects entering the emitter, a bug cap is installed on the outlet nipple. The bug cap will not affect the discharge rate.

The supply tubing is rolled out on the ground next to the plants ready for the drip emitter to be installed. To hold the supply tubing in place, a wire stake may be used.

The emitter may be placed at the end of 1/4" tubing. A 1/4" connector links the feeder tube to the supply tube. A support stake holds the tubing in place. Distribution tubing can be attached to the outlet nipple and a bug plug inserted at the other end of the tubing. The supply tubing may be buried, but it is generally recommended that the emission point be above the surface.

Adjustable Dial-A-Flo Emitters are available with either barbed or threaded inlets, and with a barbed inlet on a stake. They can be adjusted from a drip emitter to a stream bubbler as the discharge increases. The unit is calibrated so that the desired discharge can be selected by rotating the cap. The emitter can also be completely taken apart to be cleaned.

As with any clip-on emitter, a hole is punched into the supply tubing and the Dial-A-Flo (barbed style) is inserted. drip irrigation

The Dial-A-Flo (threaded style) can be mounted on a 1/4" riser and (with a barbed adapter) pushed into the supply tubing. A wire stabilizer stake keeps it vertical.
The Dial-A-Flo on a stake has a side-barbed inlet, which allows it to be attached to the supply tubing via 1/4" feeder tubing.

To water hanging baskets, the Dial-A-Flo can be used in an inverted position. The coverage can be controlled by adjusting the cap.
